Congratulations to the citizens of the Republic of South Sudan on their independence! As the newest nation in Africa, there’s no doubt that the new nation-state will face challenges in the future, but as articulated by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, “peace is possible if people are willing to make hard choices and stand by them”.
